Reimar Bauer is an expierenced scientific programmer from Jülich, Germany. That‘s a small town close to the Dutch border between Aachen and Cologne.

He works at the Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH. With some 5,900 employees and a unique research infrastructure, Forschungszentrum is one of the major interdisciplinary research centres in Europe.
Employees research to provide comprehensive solutions to the grand challenges facing society in the fields of energy and the environment, information and brain research with the aim of providing society with options for action facilitating sustainable development.

In 2018, he was part of the team that implemented a new IT-governance at Forschungszentrum Jülich. He is co-author of the „Code Of Conduct for employees working with IT“ based on Sociocracy 3.0 that provides the framework for the new governance.

Reimar likes FOSS projects and is a member of the pyCologne Usergroup. For ten years he has been organizing „Python Barcamps“ in Cologne (http://pythoncamp.de). In 2013 he got elected as PSF Fellow. Since 2016, he is maintainer and core developer of the Mission Support Software. In the past he contributed a lot to the „MoinMoin Wiki Software project“.
