lecture: Query mechanisms for NoSQL databases

Event_large

We'll go through the different query mechanisms provided by several NoSQL databases, showing the usage scenarios and limitations by examples.

SQL is the standard and established way to query relational databases. It is present everywhere and supported by a wide range of tools.

In the NoSQL ecosystem, there aren't too many standards yet. Furthermore, the different NoSQL databases address very heterogenous usage scenarios and provide distinct feature sets. Consequently, they have come up with different solutions and mechanisms to access data.
The query mechanisms range from very limited access-by-key only to full-featured query and even programming languages.
The talk will give an overview of which query facilities are provided by selected key/value stores, document, and graph databases.
