Lecture: Supervising student projects in the FOSS Mobile space
Motivation, interest, reception and encountered obstacles
The LinuxMobile community made great progress towards a free daily-driveable phone in the recent years. Yet, apart from limited hardware options, the lack of native apps is still an issue.
In order to enhance the situation, I tried to combine university lectures with userspace development using "cheap student workforce". The talk discusses anecdotal experience from the past two years in this endeavor and presents the shiny success story of bit_blink. Bit_blink is a native LinuxMobile app for programming LED name badges and is written in Rust using libadwaita.
