Fascinated by computers since getting started on a C64 in 1985, Elke Moritz studied computer science with a minor in economics at the University of Kaiserslautern in the south-west of Germany. After working at various reseach groups in the US on scientific visualization and virtual reality projects, she joined Mercury Computer Systems/Visage Imaging to develop medical imaging software. Since 2009 she has been on an exciting journey at Nokia and now HERE Technologies in Berlin, Germany, where she has worked on a number of map-related products, from consumer apps on various platforms (Symbian, Meego, WindowsPhone, Android, iOS, Web) to new B2B solutions for the Internet of Things. Elke has been active in the Free Software world since 1996 and was organising the LinuxTag events for many years.
