Firebird - a really free database used in free and commercial projects

Firebird is a relational database system, that suppports most ANSI SQL features. The open Source project started in the year 2000 based on the sourcecode of Borland Interbase. Firebird uses a free license, which also allows unlimited usage and distribution in commercial projects. Starting with a small embedded version up to the full featured server version available for windows, linux, mac, sun, etc. it can be easilly included in distributed applications. Holger gives an overview about customer projects where Firebird is used, for example german telekom, german press agency, european patent organisation, ERP software, insurance solutions, medical solutions and much more. You will also get an overview about performance regarding users, database size, transactions per minute and other technical details, for example, Stored Procedures, Trigger, Views, Hardwarerequirements, administration, scalability, Differences to MySQL and Postgresql, integration in PHP, Java, Python etc.
